Jade stands to the side for the moment, in no hurry to get involved. He had always preferred staying detached. Idly, he wraps the lead around his hand, loop after loop, reducing the amount of slack.

Jonathan makes soft, pleased noises against Heine's mouth, and Jade stirs slightly, but finds that he remains mostly unmoved. There's something fascinating about sex and power on a purely intellectual level, but Jade had always been interested in Jonathan's mind more than anything. He finds himself wondering what the clever mortal thinks of all this - does he know? Why take this sort of risk?

And then there's Heine. The memory of his sneer is so at odds with the way he touches Jonathan, it almost gives Jade pause. He gives Heine's lead another light tug just to irritate him.
