He's aware of the couple, but only lowers his voice a fraction, to signal that this is a private conversation. None of what they're saying would make sense out of context.

"Is that so?" He taps lightly on the leather collar, once, then smiles. "I'm afraid you're not entirely correct. I'd like to hear whatever you have to say."
