Without Jade scaring him awake, he sleeps in. Irvin is the reason he wakes up at all. It isn't difficult to notice that Irvin seems to be nervous for some reason and Shinjirou tries his best to make him feel more at ease. It's kind of a problem when Irvin whines at him, following him around as he attempts to vacuum the living room or do the laundry.
He breaks his routine to take Irvin out, hoping that will help. His plan doesn't really work, seeing as he ends up on the ground at some point. Palms scratched open from the impact, burning with pain, he sits up slowly, groaning. He could have easily hit the concrete face first, he realizes. Something is wrong -- this isn't the same behavior Irvin showed then either. Maybe the dog's missing his owner? Shinjirou can't come up with a better explanation and frowns at him.
